In recent years, the pea industry has experienced significant events. In 2023, Russia opened its pea market for imports; in 2024, the U.S. and Canada imposed anti-dumping and countervailing investigations on China's pea protein products; and in 2025, Ukraine opened its pea market, while China imposed retaliatory tariffs on the U.S. and Canada. Each of these events has profound implications for China's pea trade and industrial development, even determining the survival of key segments in the supply chain.

Meanwhile, the plant-based food industry has moved past its bubble phase and is now developing more rationally. As pea protein is one of the primary raw materials for plant-based meat alternatives and plant protein beverages, effectively expanding its market and introducing advanced foreign products and technologies has become a crucial driver for the development of China's pea processing industry.

Hosted by our chamber, the "2025 China International Pea Conference and Plant-Based Market Conference" will be held in Shandong from July 3 to 4, 2025 (with registration on July 2). The conference aims to explore the role of plant-based protein in the food industry and consumer markets, serving as a platform for the pea and plant-based food sectors to exchange ideas, pool resources, and connect various stakeholders—from production to consumption—to chart the future path and trends for China's pea and plant-based food industries.

The conference will invite industry organizations, producers, processors, and traders from major pea-producing regions such as Canada, Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan, as well as related plant-based protein food, beverage, and health product companies. Together with global experts in technology, nutrition, and food science, they will discuss key industry topics. The event strives to bridge domestic and international segments of the pea supply chain, promote the application of plant-based protein, and foster global cooperation for the industry's healthy and orderly development.
